What are grubs?  Grubs are little worms that are beetle larvae.  During the lawn care season, we frequently get calls from customers panicking about the grubs in their lawn.  They are very concerned about the grubs doing serious damage to their property.  The reality is that it is perfectly normal and acceptable to have some grubs.  Specifically, 10-11 grubs per square foot.  If you are attempting to diagnose the problem by yourself, it is important to remember to do numerous samples throughout your property.  Grub damage usually occurs in July and August and one major sign of grub damage is if you can lift patches of turf up with little resistance and this is caused by a very loose root system due to grubs feeding on the roots.

How do you treat grubs?  The best way to deal with this problem is to prevent it from happening.  At Terra, we include FREE Grub Control as part of our 6 step lawn fertilization and weed control program with no additional cost to you.  If you do not use our service and you have developed a grub problem which needs to be treated rather than prevented, we will apply Dylox or another grub pesticide to your grass immediately before a significant rain event to make sure to wash the product into the soil.
